This is a program that provides soft and hard skill training, coupled with opportunities for cross-sector career exposure, including social enterprise jobs, service and community engagement opportunities, internships and apprenticeships.Through the program, we empower the next generation with tools and support to learn better money habits and become financially capable, resulting in greater chances of
success in school and career. The program connects the next generation to committed and caring adults for structured, ongoing relationships that support high school and college success as well as soft and hard skill development.
Students enrolled in the program receive training in business skills, entrepreneurial training, computer skills, web development, software applications, and more. We also demonstrate the importance of giving back to the community by organizing community service initiatives, such as taking the youth to feed the homeless. Groups meet weekly on Wednesdays and Thursdays in various community locations, and students are required to commit to 6 months of participation.
There are no fees for participation in the Leadership Academy program. We make the public at large aware of the availability of our suite of programming by presenting workshops, community classes, lectures and slideshows titled, “The Missing Pieces,” at schools, libraries and other public venues. These presentations focus on the causes, current efforts and solutions to broken families and education. They also highlight the geographical, economical, and social aspects of broken homes.
